Maybe She Just Likes Dresses

by RealMomofNJ on July 31, 2012 in Controversy, Uncategorized

P is in a dress phase. Every day it’s “I want to wear a dress,” and she selects one that should be reserved for church or weddings, and God help you if you suggest she wear something else. The previous phase was mismatched clothes, which made her look like she’s colorblind. Before that, it was tutus with every outfit….

The Guilt of Being a Stay At Home Mom

by RealMomofNJ on July 30, 2012 in Mom Stuff

Food Glorious Food!

by RealMomofNJ on July 25, 2012 in Baby Care, Baby Food, Food & Recipes

So N is getting serious about solids! It’s been about 2 weeks now, and things are going swimmingly.

I introduced rice cereal reconstituted with breast milk first. It was soupy and messy, as is recommended at the start, but I found N preferred when it was thicker. It stayed in his mouth better, and he did a much better job…

A Lesson in Generosity and Selflessness

by RealMomofNJ on July 24, 2012 in Children's Books

We get a lot of pleasure from visiting our local library. P and N have made friends with the librarians and love going in every week to discover new books. I love going because we’re not only encouraging reading, we’re supporting a community service.

My kids want for nothing, so it’s important to me that they appreciate what they have…

Binky Stations

by RealMomofNJ on July 23, 2012 in Baby Care, Tips

The only thing less fun than your baby melting down because it wants a binky is not being able to find a binky. Anywhere. Where the hell do these things go?? Much like socks in the laundry, they just vanish into thin air.

It’s impossible to keep track of binkies when you have multiple people moving them around the house…
